Printing businesses have managed to cut their spending on electricity by 26% this year through joint procurement, the business daily Világgazdaság said on Thursday, quoting Printing and Paper Industry Association General Secretary Katalin Peller.
The first tender, held three years ago, was called for the electricity purchases of nine companies; the latest one was invited for the power demand of 29 printing companies. Estimates show printing and paper companies use around 90GWh-100GWh of electricity per year, with the power consumption of the companies belonging to the association accounting for half of this amount.
Peller told the paper that a natural-gas procurement tender, through which 20 companies could achieve savings worth tens of millions of forints on a purchase value of around HUF 500 million (€1.86 million), is in its final stage. (MTI-Econews)
