Porsche Hungária retains 20% share of market

Porsche Hungária (PH) sold 17,384 new cars in Hungary in 2009 compared to 35,037 in 2008, retaining the company's 20% share of the market for passenger cars and 15.6% share of the market for commercial vehicles.

Hungary's market for new cars shrank around 50% last year due to the economic crisis.

PH sells the Volkswagen brands Audi, Skoda, SEAT, Volkswagen as well as Volkswagen commercial vehicles in Hungary, while the company owns Porsche Inter-Auto, the distributor of the Porsche brand in Hungary. PH's used-car business Weltauto is also active in Hungary.

PH said it sold 1,150 Audis, 2,235 SEATs, 5,361 Skodas, 7,059 VWs and 1,476 VW commercial vehicles and 102 Porsches in Hungary in 2009. Sales of used cars totaled 7,010, down from 12,000 in 2008. (MTI-ECONEWS)
