Piszke Papír lays off last of staff

Troubled paper company Piszke Papír has given notice to its remaining 263 staff, Imre Harsányi, who chairs the employee council, told MTI.

Piszke Papír halted production in the middle of December and was put under liquidation in a few months later. The plant had 420 staff at the time.

Greece's Zeritis bought the plant when it was privatized in 1993. The Greek company also owns the Hungarian companies Szentendre Paper Factory and Budafok Recycling. (MTI – Econews)
