Orders, both domestic and foreign, of Pick Szeged, Hungary's biggest meat company, have grown 10pc, even as food production and consumption on the whole declines, owner Sándor Csányi said at a race sponsored by the biggest Hungarian-owned supermarket chain in Szeged on Thursday.
Pick Szeged is constantly undertaking developments because it is operating at full capacity, Csányi said. The company also aims to raise its stock of hogs from 265,000 to 500,000-600,000 in the future.
Pick Szeged wants to build a more modern slaughterhouse, but that will require EU funding, Csányi said. Headcount would naturally rise as a result of the investment, he added.
In addition to Pick Szeged, Csányi owns poultry company Bábolna, winegrowers Villányi Borászat and dairy company Sole Mizo. Sole Mizo is about to make an acquisition, Csányi, who is also the CEO of OTP Bank, Hungary's biggest commercial bank, revealed. (MTI-ECONEWS)
