Pest County authority fines Tesco for infringements

The Pest County Government Supermarket Chain Safety and Animal Health Affairs Directorate has fined the Hungarian unit of UK retailer Tesco HUF 1.5 million for infringements at its stores in the county, directorate spokesman Attila Kiss told MTI on Thursday.

Authorities found products on shelves -- including cocoa for children -- that were past their sell-by dates, Kiss said.

Tesco said it had not been officially notified by the directorate, but would cooperate with the authority and take all necessary measures to prevent similar cases.
