Origo online ad revenue grows faster than industry average in Q1

Online advertising revenue of origo, one of Hungary's biggest internet portals, increased more than the industry average in Q1 2006, György Simó, CEO of T-Online Rt, which owns origo, said on Wednesday.

Online advertising revenue of Hungary's eight biggest portals was Ft 939 million in 2005, 70% more than a year earlier, according to figures compiled for the Hungarian Online Advertising Index (MOHI). MOHI compiles the money spent on online advertising at portals Habostorta, Házipatika, Index, Napi Online, Origo, Portfolio, Ringier Online and Sanoma Online, which together account for 65%-70% of the market.
Simó said T-Online hopes the government recognizes the importance of broadband internet for the modernization of Hungary and considers this when allocating EU development funding.
