Carmaker Opel's production base in Hungary has turned out its five millionth cylinder head, plant spokesperson Edit Légrádi told MTI.
The cylinder head will be built into an engine and delivered to Opel's headquarters in Russelsheim, Germany, where it will go into an Opel Insignia, Légrádi said.
Production at Opel's cylinder head plant in Szentgotthárd, near the border with Austria, started in September 1996. The cylinder heads go into engines made at the base.
Opel announced in September it plans to spend €500 million to introduce a third line of engines at the production base. The project will create 800 jobs from 2012.
