German carmaker Opel on Friday held a topping out ceremony at a €500m plant it is building at its base in Szentgotthárd (W Hungary).
The 30,000sqm plant is expected to start turning out three families of engines from the end of 2012.
The investment will create 800 jobs at the base, but several thousand more among the plant's suppliers.
Opel was awarded a HUF 5.5bn state subsidy for the investment.
