A 5,000-liter fuel tank exploded at a plant of Hungarian oil and gas company Mol Nyrt on Monday, disaster management spokesman Sándor Váradi-Cseppely said.
A fireman suffered burns, Váradi-Cseppely said. The explosion happened when the outer coating of the tank caught fire for some undisclosed reason. The spokesman said the tank had been nearly empty, but the heat caused vapors from material at the bottom of the container to explode. The explosion ripped off the side of the tank, and the flames injured a fireman standing nearby.
