The local council of Nyíregyháza is in talks with three investors on a €25 million expansion of the city's industrial park, mayor Ferenc Kovács told MTI after a meeting of the council on Friday.
The central government will take a one-off decision on an investment subsidy for the expansion, Kovács said. It has already made an offer to one of the investors, he added.
Kovács declined to reveal any further details until the investment plans are finalized.
The local council's four-year economic development program, approved at the meeting on Friday, shows the park being expanded on the east and south sides.
Companies have invested HUF 85 billion in the park since it started operating in 1997. The companies have created 4,500 jobs. Swedish household appliance maker Electrolux has a refrigerator factory in the park and Danish toymaker Lego also has a plant there. Both employ more than a thousand people.
