Number of mobile phone subscriptions up slightly in January

The number of mobile phone subscriptions in Hungary increased 29,000 to 9.349 million in January, the National Communications Authority (NHH) said on Thursday. The number of subscriptions increased 6.81% compared to the same month a year earlier and 0.31% in January alone. The number of subscriptions per 100 people rose to 92.7 in January, compared to 92.4 one month earlier and 86.7 in January 2004.


T-Mobil Hungary's share of the market in terms of subscribers was 44.93% at the end of January, down from 45% a month earlier. Pannon's share fell from 33.22% to 33.19%, and Vodafone's share increased to 21.88% from 21.78%. The number of active users rose 15,000 to 8.739 million in January.
