Number of fixed lines continues to drop in February

There were 3.435 million fixed line telephone connections in Hungary at the end of February, 10,000 fewer than one month earlier, the National Communications Authority (NHH) announced on Monday.

The NHH noted that it had started including connections of VOIP service providers such as PanTel Kft, Tele2 Kft, GTS Datanet Kft and eTel Kft, as well as major cable television companies offering voice services, such as UPC Hungary Kft, T-Kábel Kft, Fibernet Rt and EMKTV Kft, in its figures, which earlier comprised only the land lines of Emitel Rt, Hungarotel Zrt, Magyar Telekom Nyrt, Monortel Rt and Invitel Rt.
The number of broadband internet lines reached 442,000 by the end of February, 70% more than twelve months earlier and 3.27% more than in January.
