Hungarian laptop seller notebook.hu expects to close 2008 with revenue of Ft 4 billion, well over last year's Ft 2.5 billion, to give it a 10% market share, managing director Krisztián Kenéz said.
notebook.hu expects to sell around 20,000 laptops this year, including 5,000 laptops from Dell, with whom it recently signed a distribution agreement.
Last year's revenue was down sharply from Ft 3.8 billion in 2006 because of the elimination of a state subsidies for computer purchases by students and teachers as well as falling laptop prices. Laptops can be bought in Hungary for as little as Ft 80,000 – Ft 100,000 now, down from Ft 150,000 just two years earlier.
notebook.hu has seven shops in Hungary, but it will open a further two by year-end and two more in 2009. It also has a web shop. (MTI – Econews)
