Nokia to open research center in Switzerland

The world's top cellphone maker Nokia said it would establish a research center in Lausanne, Switzerland, in collaboration with two Swiss federal institutes of technology.

The center, due to open in June, will focus on pervasive communications - services and applications that use information from the user's surroundings or personal preferences.

“(Nokia) sees the fusing of the digital and physical worlds as a key objective in mobility,” Nokia's Chief Technology Officer Bob Iannucci said in a statement. (Reuters)
