No domestic routes free for OrangeWays

The ministry of transportation, telecommunications and energy affairs has rejected a request from international bus company OrangeWays for a permit to operate scheduled domestic routes in Hungary, the ministry informed MTI on Tuesday morning.

In July OrangeWays CEO Miklós Kovács announced in July that the company had submitted an application to the ministry to operate multiple daily bus routes from Budapest to five other major cities in Hungary - Debrecen, Győr, Miskolc, Szeged and Zalaegerszeg.

2004 legislation allows the ministry to issue a permit if there is realistic demand for the service, and the new service does not hurt or endanger the rights or operationality of other service providers as defined in their public service contract, the ministry noted. (MTI-ECONEWS)
