Korean tire maker Hankook has started production at a new hall at its plant in Hungary, the local unit's communications manager said.
Hankook inaugurated its plant in Rácalmás (C Hungary) in 2007 and it began building the new production hall in 2009, said Katalin Roy. So far, the company has invested €550 million in its base in Hungary, she added.
The new production hall will raise daily capacity at the plant from 30,000 passenger car tires to 34,000-35,000, bringing annual output to 11 million. Hankook has hired 400 people to work the new capacity, bringing headcount to more than 1,900 at the plant.
The new production hall will reach full capacity by the end of the summer.
