US automated teller machine maker NCR plans to set up a €9 million regional customer service and training center in Budapest, VP Chris Shea announced at a press conference in the capital on Thursday.
The center, to serve NCR clients in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, will operate with a staff of about 130. In addition to providing customer care for bank, retail and catering clients, the center will be the home to the NCR Customer Service University, providing training courses in Italian, Spanish, French, Dutch, German, Greek, Turkish and English. NCR chose Budapest as the site for the center because of its qualified labor force, Shea said.
State Secretary for International Economic Relations Ábel Garamhegyi said service centers established in Hungary by multinationals, such as BT and EDS, employ about 15,000 people. NCR opened a production plant near Budapest in 2005. Since then, the company has invested about €12 million at the base. (MTI-Econews)
