Mecseki Elektronika, a company set up by a Slovenian and two German businesses, is planning to manufacture equipment and parts for pálinka distillation at in a HUF 600 million plant in south Hungary, business daily Napi Gazdaság said.
Spokesman Zoltán Nádas told the paper the company will first build a 600 square meter production hall to manufacture essential parts for distilleries, employing 20-25 people. Long-term plans include a logistics centre and setting up a plant producing complete equipments in 18 months with 50 employees.
The company's move is in response to legislation to be enacted soon which will legalize the home distilling of pálinka, Hungary's eau de vie as part of a 29-point economic action-plan of the new government. (MTI – Econews)
