MÁV Trakció, the traction unit of state-owned railway company MÁV, has won €2 million in funding through European Union's Ten-T tender for installation of the European Train Control System (ETCS) on MÁV locomotives, MÁV Trakció informed MTI on Thursday evening.
MÁV Trakció plans to install the signaling, control and security system on 25 Bombardier TRAXX and 10 Siemens Taurus locomotives by the end of 2012. The total cost of the project is €13.5 million.
The ETCS is designed to replace the various incompatible signaling, control and security systems used in Europe. (MTI-ECONEWS)
