MÁV to vamp up Budapest railway stations

Hungarian railways MÁV Zrt has unveiled plans to make its Déli Pályaudvar into a large commercial, office and service center, business daily Világgazdaság reported.

Valued at some Ft 40 billion, the project, which will be implemented in two stages, is scheduled to kick off later this year and finish by 2012.
MÁV said it is also planning to spend Ft 30 billion on revamping its station in Kelenföld, District 11, and another Ft 30 billion on two other stations in Budapest. The heavily indebted state railway company expects to raise funding for the developments from private investors.
