MÁV introduces electronic purchasing system

State-owned railway company MÁV is introducing an electronic system for purchases that do not exceed the threshold requiring a public procurement procedure, services director Zoltán Werle told journalists on Wednesday.

The system is expected to reduce paperwork related to the purchases by 85% and cut the time required by 30%, Werle said.

MÁV's purchases that do not require a public procurement procedure -- those under HUF 500,000 -- add up to about HUF 20 billion a year.
