Many German companies would invest in Hungary again

A significant number of German companies would again choose to invest in Hungary, but a growing proportion of members of the German-Hungarian Chamber of Industry and Commerce (DUIHK) see shortfalls in legal certainty and believe taxes are too high, the chamber's department head, Dirk Wolfer, said in Wednesday's issue of daily Magyar Hírlap. German companies expect Hungary's new economy minister, Mihály Varga, to bring stability and predictability to the portfolio, Wolfer said. Chamber members noted workers' improved motivation, productivity and professional readiness among the positive points of doing business in Hungary, he added. Big new investments by German carmakers Audi, Daimler and Opel show it is good business to invest in Hungary when companies can reach bilateral agreements with the government, Wolfer said.
