Malev to raise kerosene surcharge

Hungarian national carrier Malev is to raise the kerosene surcharge by an average EUR 0.80 per flight-distance segment from June 20, the company told MTI.

Malev said the adjustment - worth HUF 210 at the current exchange rate - has been required by the continually high kerosene price, exchange rate changes and the pricing policy of competitors. The statement notes that International Air Transport Association IATA said in its latest report - published on June 6 - that airline companies must reckon with a steadily high kerosene price in 2011.

It was earlier reported that Malev last raised its kerosene surcharge by a maximum EUR 5 per flight-distance segment on March 8.
