Magyar Cukor announced Tuesday that it targets production of 120,000 tons of sugar from a record-high 800,000-850,000 tons of sugar beets at its refinery in Kaposvár (SW Hungary).
Magyar Cukor deputy CEO László Hajós told MTI that the company expects to sell about 105,000 tons of sugar in Hungary, satisfying about one-third of domestic demand.
Magyar Cukor made more than HUF 650 million in investments at the company's refinery in order to prepare it for increased production, including the purchase of environment-protecting devices.
Magyar Cukor will employ 270 people during the sugar campaign, scheduled to last 115 days, including 100 seasonal workers. (MTI-Econews)
