In spite of the recession in the construction sector, Hungarian and Austrian building materials company Leier said it is still building a HUF 5 billion brick factory in the Slovakian city of Kosice.
The plant is slated to start production at the beginning of 2009.
Leier managing director Andor Komlós said the factory would supply markets in Easter Slovakia and Ukraine first of all, but some output could also be exported to Hungary. Infrastructure investments in the region are expected to slow, but not stop, he added.
About 120 people are expected to work at the plant, which will become the company's fifth. It already has two in Hungary, as well as ones in Poland and Croatia.
Leier, headquartered in Győr (N Hungary), has annual revenue of almost €160 million. (MTI – Econews)
