Jüllich Glas Holding (Székesfehérvár, W Hungary) will start manufacturing solar panels in the second half of 2011; the establishment of the new division has been preceded by more than 12 months of research and development, and the group has spent close to HUF 3 billion on the implementation, owner Ádám Jüllich said on Monday.
Jüllich said the group launched a HUF 300 million R&D project in the spring of 2010 to prepare for the design and manufacturing of solar panels. The group has won a HUF 184 million EU grant for the implementation.
As part of the investment, Jüllich Glas Holding built a 13,000sqm plant in the Sóstó Industrial Park. The solar panels manufactured over one year at the new plant will have capacity to generate 13.2GWh of energy. This is sufficient to meet the total energy requirements of 5,000-7,000 households.
Jüllich Glas wishes to acquire a leading position on the market for solar panels, Jüllich said.
