Alternative telco Invitel had EBITDA of Ft 20.6 billion in 2005, practically unchanged from the previous year, while revenue rose 2% to Ft 726 million, the company's owner, Magyar Telecom BV, announced on Tuesday.
Invitel's gross margin fell 3% to Ft 32.9 billion in 2005. The company's number of broadband internet subscribers grew 63% to 51,489. The number of corporate subscribers outside of former concession areas rose or 53%. Invitel's revenue from retail voice services fell to Ft 22.1 billion in 2005 from Ft 24.5 billion in 2004, as a result of increasing competition on former landline concession areas as well as from wireless service providers. Revenue from internet services increased 38% to Ft 5 billion, largely because of the growing number of broadband subscribers. Revenue from corporate subscribers fell to Ft 11.1 billion from Ft 12.7 billion. Invitel noted that the decline was countered in part by the increase in revenue from clients in areas outside of former concession areas as well as from corporate internet services. Invitel's revenue from wholesales services increased to Ft 6.8 billion from Ft 3.1 billion.
