Hungarian transmission system operator MAVIR has picked IBM for a Ft 1.7 billion (about $11 billion) IT infrastructure upgrade, IBM announced on Thursday.
IBM will install a work and asset management system that registers network assets, stores data related to their maintenance, schedules and assigns maintenance work efficiently based on resources, coordinates groups working in the field and tracks costs while optimizing expenses. The project will be carried out at the same time as improvements are made to Hungary’s power transmission network to be completed by 2010.
MAVIR spokeswoman Ágnes Laskoy told Econews, MAVIR would pay for the IT infrastructure upgrade entirely from its own resources. (MTI-Econews)
