Hunguest Hotels on Wednesday inaugurated the HUF 2.5 billion renovation of its Erkel Hotel in the spa town of Gyula (SE Hungary).
Hunguest Hotels won a HUF 600 million European Union grant for the project.
The renovation involved converting one of the hotel's two wings into a four-star establishment with 177 standard two-bed rooms and five suites with views of the Gyula castle.
Hunguest Hotels enlarged many of the rooms in the hotel's 147-room three-star wing and made it handicap accessible.
It also built several conference rooms and a wellness centre and completely renovated the hotel restaurant.
