Hungarian maize starch and isoglucose maker Hungrana plans to spend more than HUF 3 billion to install biofuel furnaces at its plant in Szabadegyháza (W Hungary), Hungrana's communications company said. Work will start on the furnaces in about a month and they will be put into operation after a year. European Union funding is covering about one-third of the cost of the investment. Hungrana processes some 1 million tons of maize a year.
