Hungary's economic and commercial presence in Libya minimal

There are a total of 28 Hungarian companies registered as operating interests in Libya, many of which appear to be dormant and none of which generates major turnover, the economic news portal reported, citing data from company-information provider Opten.

The largest among the 28 Hungarian companies operating interests in Libya is a Budapest grocery store, which had revenue of HUF 258 million and losses of HUF 2 million in 2009. The majority of the Hungarian companies with ties to Libya are food retailers and wholesalers.

CEO Sándor Seprenyi of Hungarian construction company Nemzetközi Vegyépszer, which in March 2010 won a tender to build €300 million in infrastructure and public facilities in Libya, told that all 10 of the company's employees who were working in Libya have already left the country.
