The number of mobile phone subscriptions fell 18,000 to 11,662,000 in January, according to data from the National Media and Infocommunications Authority. The number of active mobile phone subscriptions fell 22,000 from the previous month to almost 11,078,000 in January. Market penetration fell slightly, to 117.1 SIM cards per hundred people from 117.3 in December. T-Mobile's market share based on the total number of subscriptions rose to 45.11% from 45.04% in the previous month, Telenor's dropped to 31.95% from 31.97% and Vodafone's fell to 22.94% from 22.99%. Based on subscriptions generating turnover, Vodafone's market share fell to 22.57% from 22.62%, T-Mobile's rose to 45.42% from 45.40%, and Telenor's grew to 32.02% from 31.98%.
