Hungary M&A down to six-year low in second half of 2010

Mergers and acquisitions in the first months of 2011 indicate a rise in M&A activity in Hungary this year compared to the second half of last year, notably in the entertainment and media, telecommunications and IT, financial-services and energy and retail sectors, consultancy PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) said.

A total of 18 mergers and acquisitions (M&A) took place in Hungary during the final six months of 2010, the lowest half-year number in six and a half years, PwC reported in its latest analysis of mergers and acquisitions (M&A) activity in the country.

PwC noted that 45 M&A transactions occurred in Hungary in the first half of 2010 and 63 during all of last year, down from 66 in 2009 and 81 in 2009.
