The number of guest nights at commercial accommodations in Hungary reached 1,543,000 in October, up 3.0% from the same month a year earlier, but gross revenue fell 0.5% to HUF 22.77bn, the Central Statistics Office (KSH) said on Monday.
The number of guest nights spent by foreign tourists rose 6.6% to 880,000. More than 20% of these were spent by tourists from Germany. The number of guest nights spent by domestic tourists fell 1.5% to 662,501.
The number of rooms at commercial accommodations in Hungary climbed 4.4% in twelve months to 82,975 in October. Of these, 50,907 were hotel rooms.
The number of guest nights spent at hotels increased 6.9% to 1,318,000. Gross revenue of hotels rose 1.1% to HUF 21.04bn in October. HUF 11.76bn of the total came from accomodation fees. The occupancy rate at hotels averaged 49.6% during the period.
The number of guest nights at commercial accommodations in January-October came to 17,110,000, down 1.4% from the same period a year earlier. Gross revenue was up 1.7% at HUF 208.34bn in the first ten months, including HUF 116.5bn from accommodation fees and HUF 48.0bn from catering.
Foreign guest nights totalled 8,771,000 in January-October, up 1.8% and domestic guest nights fell 4.6% to 8,339,000 in the period.
The average room rate at Hungarian hotels was HUF 15,271 in October and HUF 14,228 in January-October. Gross revenue per available room came to HUF 7,577 in October and HUF 6,795 in January-October.
