Hungarians account for one-fifth of holiday sales in Burgenland

Hungarians generate about one-fifth of the €35 million in pre-holiday retail sales in the Austrian state of Burgenland, on the border with Hungary, Harald Schermann, a spokesman for the state's chamber of commerce, told MTI.

Clothing and shoes are likely to account for more than one-third of Hungarians' Christmas shopping in Burgenland, Schermann said.

Purchases by Hungarians account for €130 million or 15% of retail sales in Burgenland for the full year, he said. (MTI-ECONEWS)
