Hungarian hotels that are not accredited under the Hungarian Hotel Association's Hotelstars Union system will not be allowed to use stars as a measure of their quality from July 1, business daily Világgazdaság reported on Friday.
The switch to the new accreditation system is voluntary, but required for any hotel that wishes to use the star rating system.
Just seven hotels have been accredited under the new system and 90 are in the midst of the process, but the hotel association aims to bring the number of hotels using the system to 200-250 by the end of the year. In 2-3 years, it is hoped at least half of all the 758 hotels in Hungary will use the Hotelstars Union star system. (MTI-Econews)
