The Federation of Hungarian Food Industries has filed complaints with the Agricultural Administration Office (MGSzH) against retail chains Tesco, Spar and CBA for alleged abuse of market power, citing breaches of legislation defending suppliers passed last year, the daily Népszabadság reported.
MGSzH confirmed that they are examining the complaint, but declined to elaborate citing the ongoing investigation.
The three chains denied, however, to the daily that they received any complaints from suppliers.
Retail chains abusing their market power could face fines up to HUF 500 million (€1.78 million) under the legislation in effect since last autumn. (MTI – Econews)
