The state-owned Hungarian electricity works MVM and German utilities company RWE said they are shelving plans for a HUF 300 billion capacity expansion at the Mátra Power Plant.
Building another block at the plant would not have been profitable in the long term, considering the time to recoup the investment, the environmental protection viewpoints and the energy plans of both Hungary and the European Union, the companies said.
The 440MW lignite- and biomass-fueled block would have expanded the plant's capacity by about 50%. (MTI – Econews)
