A HUF 2.5 billion, four-star hotel was inaugurated in Morahalom (SE Hungary) on Friday, next to the city's Elisabeth Spa.
Hotel Colosseum has 77 rooms and five suites; it has wellness facilities and offers conference services, said Janos Hevizi, managing director of Aktiv, which owns 49% of the project company that built the hotel and will operate it.
The investment was supported with HUF 512 million in European Union funding and the Hungarian Development Bank (MFB) granted a HUF 1.5 billion loan for the project.
The hotel is heated with geothermal energy.
The Elisabeth Spa had more than 300,000 visitors last year. Tourists to Morahalom spent about 35,000 guest nights there in 2010, including 13,000 at commercial accommodations.
