Chinese telecommunications company Huawei is stepping up production at its supply centre in Hungary, Huawei Technologies Hungary managing director Gavin Dai told MTI on Thursday.
The expansion of production and logistics services will make Hungary Huawei's second-biggest supply centre and one of its most important foreign investments, said Gavin Dai. Outside China, Huawei operates such a supply center only in Brazil, he added.
Huawei established its Europe Supply Center (ESC) in Hungary as an experiment in 2009, and now the 20-month test period has been successfully completed. Last year, the centre exported $600 million of product and this is expected to double in 2011.
The strategic step will "create a large number of jobs in Hungary", said Gavin Dai.
