House brands share of food sales edges up to 23% in 2010

House brands generated 23% of retail food turnover in 2010, up from 22% in 2009, market researcher Nielsen told MTI.

Sales of house brands reached HUF 300 billion in 2010.

House brands accounted for 17% of household chemicals and cosmetics sales, or more than HUF 50 billion, Nielsen found.

House brands accounted for 43% of frozen food sales, 25% of meat and dairy product sales, 14% of alcoholic beverage sales and 16% of coffee and tea sales.
