HCL Technologies (HCL) has announced the opening of its second European outsourcing facility with the establishment of a delivery center in Krakow, Poland.
The Indian IT services company plans to replicate the success of its first European delivery center in Northern Ireland, which now employs 2,300 workers, and is establishing the new facility in direct response to requests from customers. The Poland delivery center will open in July 2007 with approximately 100 local employees, growing to 250 by the end of the year and with potential for further growth based on customer requirement. The new center will scale to match market demand with focus on application development and infrastructure services.
Ram Krishna, corporate vice president, HCL Technologies said, “While we are seeing expansion of the types of services being outsourced to India, from infrastructure and applications to engineering, customers require more flexibility from outsourcing deals. They often want somebody on the ground and from the local market and we've been able to provide that very successfully from our Northern Ireland facility. Now we are getting more and more requests for this capability in Europe and once the center in Poland is open we will be able to offer customers increased flexibility in their outsourcing deals.”
Jacek Majchrowski, mayor of the City of Krakow, said, “This investment by HCL provides further evidence that Poland has rapidly established itself as an IT center of excellence for Europe. To have Indian companies investing in Poland is a testament to the quality of our universities and our workforce and we look forward to expansion of the HCL facility and the jobs that brings to the local marketplace.” (zdnetindia.com)
