There is no obstacle before launching trial operation in South-Korea-based Hankook Tire Ltd’s Hungarian factory in Dunaújváros, Hankook’s European HQ confirmed the information of daily Napi Gazdaság.
A final decision was also made on beginning actual operation on May 15, sooner than originally planned. This dynamism makes it possible for the 105,000 square meter factory to work at full capacity from next March, with 1,500 workers producing 15,000 tires a day.
The second stage of the over Ft 130 billion investment, the construction of an additional 53,000 square meter factory area, might start in H2 of 2008 and finish in 2010, enabling Hankook Tire Magyarország Kft to make 10 million tires of different types a year. The Hungarian subsidiary has signed contracts with over fifty suppliers, most of them being mid-sized companies. Even those providing meal, transportation and healthcare services for Hankook employees can expect to find a lucrative job.
Hankook Tire Ltd one of the leading global tire manufacturers, on 5 March announced the appointment of Seung Hwa Suh, current President and COO of Hankook Tire Europe to the position of global CEO. Suh, who has been the driving force behind the company’s €500 million investment in its first European production facility in Dunaújváros, Hungary was officially signed into the position by the board in Seoul, Korea.
