H1 sales of Hungarian supermarket chain CBA rose 9% over the same period a year earlier as more units were added, business daily Világgazdaság reported.CBA added more than a hundred stores in January-July, CBA CEO András Malasics told Világgazdaság. In addition to the independent units, CBA also signed a deal in May to stock shops at MOL petrol stations, he added.
CBA Kereskedelmi, which operates the CBA franchise network, had first-half after-tax profit of Ft 500 million, level with the same period a year earlier. CBA Kereskedelmi targets net revenue of Ft 22.5 billion this year, up from Ft 21.9 billion in 2007, Malasics said.
CBA shops generated turnover of Ft 525 billion in 2007, according to figures from market research company Nielsen. CBA was the second-biggest market player after UK-based Tesco, with sales of Ft 555 billion. (MTI – Econews)
