Gov't not interested in purchasing mobile service provider

Hungary's government is not interested in purchasing a mobile service provider, National Development Minister Zsuzsanna Németh told a joint session of Parliament's economic and local-council committee's on Monday. Recent rumors suggested that the government was interested in purchasing the local unit of mobile-service provider Vodafone. In February the Kúria, Hungary's supreme court, upheld a September court decision annulling the results of a frequency auction held in early 2012 that awarded state-owned telco MPVI the right to build its own network. The court said that according to the annex of the government decree effective at the time, the frequency that MPVI obtained cannot be allocated to a state-owned company.
