Hungary's government is in talks with the European Central Bank (ECB) about plans to change the practice of appointing policymakers to the central bank MNB, Reuters reported, citing the Hungary's Economy Ministry. “Consultations with the ECB are ongoing,” the wire agency quoted the Ministry as saying. The ECB has criticized new appointment rules approved by the Hungarian government last month, giving a parliamentary committee the right to fill all four vacancies on the bank's monetary council in March, stripping Governor András Simor of his right to name two new policymakers.
