GE turbine unit in Hungary marks tenth anniversary

US-based GE on Friday celebrated the tenth anniversary of the establishment of its energy industry base in the Hungarian city of Veresegyház.

The base's 900 staff work to supply gas and steam turbines as well as generator parts to some 250 business partners in 80 countries, said GE Hungary energy division head Balázs Somogyi.

GE Hungary had consolidated revenue of HUF 667 billion in 2008, nearly all of it from exports. The company is Hungary's third-biggest exporter.

GE has invested $1.1 billion in Hungary since 1989. (MTI-Econews)
