Passenger numbers on Hungarian low-fair airline Wizz Air rose 30% in January-May from the same period a year earlier as the global crisis caused many travelers to make price a deciding factor, the airline told MTI.
Wizz Air carried 2.8 million passengers in January-May, up from 2.15 million in the same period a year earlier.
Wizz Air carried 5.9 million passengers for the full year in 2008. This year, the airline expects to carry 7.5 million passengers.
Wizz Air flies to more than 130 destinations form 10 bases. At the end of June, it will open its eleventh base, in Prague.
The airline added another Airbus A320 to it fleet last week, bringing its total number of aircraft to 24. (MTI – Econews)
