Former Malév CEO mum on new natl carrier till decision taken

Former Malév CEO Tamás Déri told MTI on Tuesday that he did not wish to make any comment on the establishment of a new national carrier as long as a decision on the matter has not been taken.

Hungarian dailies Magyar Nemzet and Népszava said on Monday that a consortium of investors led by Déri wanted to establish a new national carrier.

Mihály Vecsei, who heads the Hungarian Association for Air Travel (Malért), told daily Magyar Nemzet that his organization was in talks with Déri's group of investors. He added that the owners of Hungary's Tensi travel group had also drawn up plans for a new national carrier.

Daily Népszava said Déri's consortium could announce their plans in days.

Malév flights were grounded at the beginning of February and the airline was place in receivership.
