Fifty applicants have won a combined HUF 26 billion in research subsidies in a tender which was part of the National Technology Program, minister without portfolio responsible for R+D affairs Károly Molnár announced on Monday.
The amount available for the R+D activities in the tender -- the second this year -- was raised to HUF 26 billion ($126 million) from HUF 10 billion. In the first tender, 27 projects won HUF 14 billion in R+D funding.
The grants in the second tender will support innovation in the industrial, farm, food environmental and security sectors, Molnár said. Applications for HUF 83.8 billion in funding for 171 projects were received, he added. The HUF 26 billion in funding will be complemented with co-financing of HUF 8.2 billion.
More than half of the winners in the second tender were SMEs and just 6% were big companies. The rest of the winners included institutions of higher education, scientific academies and sector-specific research institutions. (MTI-Eco)
